Felony possession overturned, and reduced to misdemeanor
« on: May 19, 2014, 11:20:21 PM »
Howdy,
Back in '73 I was convicted of felony simple possession of a joint of marijuana, the conviction was later set aside and reduced to a misdemeanor when the law changed regards to punishment for the possession. I was able to be licensed as a Paramedic, and later as an Registered Nurse. I tried to buy a shotgun, and was given a green light; but a few days later was ordered to return it to the seller because of the felony conviction. Was this legal for them to do? What is my recourse?
Thanks,

Thanks for the question Skyking.

You will need to appeal your NICS denial to the FBI and send in all documentation showing that your felony was set aside and stands as a misdemeanor today.

Check out this website for all of the details: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/a ... ochure_eng

Hope that helps.
