can Uber ban us from carrying in their cabs?

Uber recently announced a no guns policy for their drivers and passengers. Can they do that in Texas? Should I treat it the same as a business posting a 30.06?

I'm saying this does not have the bearing of a 30.06 notice for concealed carry. If they catch you with a weapon they might ban you from riding or fire you if you are an employee, but it is only against company policy - not against the law unless they use 30.06 posting or verbally tell you. Concealed is concealed and certainly don't ask. Now, having said this, I am not a lawyer. If you want an official lawyer's thoughts, post the is the Ask the Lawyers section if you haven't already.

Thanks for the reply. I reposted in the Ask a Lawyer section. Not sure how I missed it given there are only 5 top level groups :(

If the linked story is accurate, Uber isn't relying on the legal system to enforce their policy. They reserve the right to bar you and the driver from using their app. Lyft (www.lyft.com) doesn't seem to have a similar policy, i.e. Lyft doesn't care if you carry.
