Hotel/motel stay - habitation?
« on: August 25, 2015, 01:34:12 PM »
Apologies if this has been asked before now.  If I'm registered at a Texas hotel is my room or other parts of the building considered my habitation (albeit overnight)?

jdt44,

Yes, your hotel/motel room is considered a habitation under Texas law. This means that the protections of the self-defense laws and the Castle Doctrine apply whether you are at home or in your hotel/motel room.
