Concealed carry not directly on your person...
« on: June 07, 2014, 09:43:52 AM »
I have been concealed carrying legally for several years now, but now have a question about carrying not directly on my person. Many companies like Blackhawk and 5.11 are making several different kinds of bags and backpacks for those who choose to have more options for when they do carry. My question is, is it legal to conceal carry a handgun in a backpack or purse or gym bag in Texas? Are there any specific laws that govern carrying not directly on your person or physical against your body? Thanks.

Good question nygjdj,

Yes, it is perfectly lawful to carry a handgun in a handbag or a purse. The only requirement is that you have a Texas CHL, and that the firearm remain concealed.

Hope that helps.
