BATF Form 4473
« on: March 03, 2014, 12:35:32 PM »
I work part time in a gun store and recently we have had several customers come in indicating that filling out BATFE form 4473 is waived if you have a valid Texas CHL, I know that the NCIS check is waived if the person has a valid Texas CHL, but the 4473 don't think so.  I am also a CHL Instructor and don't recall any discussion about a Waiver of the aforementioned Form.  Can you please verify if in fact a Waiver is granted if a person has a valid Texas CHL??

Hello!

If the form you're referring to is the 4-page form that includes all those questions that you have to answer "no" to, except one, then I don't know if there's a waiver to having to complete it.  I've purchased a few firearms at a retail dealer since obtaining my CHL and they always had me complete that form.  I think the CHL allowed me to take immediate possession of the firearm as opposed to having to wait for the completion of the background check.  If you're referring to a different Form, then I'm not familiar with it an apologize for any confusion.

Unfortunately, there is no waiver of Form 4473 if you have a valid Texas CHL. The form needs to be filled out even if a person has a valid Texas CHL.

Yes, it would appear that it would be perfectly fine to carry on Sundays.
