Gun upgrades

What upgrades to my carry gun are generally acceptable?  I've heard stories on how an upgraded trigger can be used against you in court.  What about stippling my gun? Sights? Micro red dots? etc.

Generally a modification to your gun to make it more accurate or “deadly” (in the prosecutor’s eyes)  will  not be an issue in a self-defense shooting.   That being said, if the police and the prosecutors have chosen to prosecute you for using your gun, then they will certainly attempt to use anything they think that they can get away with including gun modifications.  The defense counsel would have to object to the introduction of this evidence as irrelevant and prejudicial.  Obviously the focus of any use of deadly force situation should be the circumstances that caused deadly force to be necessary, not the tool that was used in self-defense.

Thank you for your question.
