30.06 in apartment complex
« on: March 18, 2017, 12:09:03 PM »
Hi,
A friend lives in an apartment complex which has posted in the parking lot entrance gate a 30.06 sign. Would it be in violation to parking and go straight to that persons apartment? Would I have to leave it in my vehicle locked or I simply can not park there or enter the apartment with my firearm? Or is the sign only valid if entering their office? Thanks

Ealexis,

If you are not a tenant of the complex and there are valid signs posted at the entrance gate, then you need to leave your firearm in your vehicle. The signs reference the “property” as opposed to “premises” and therefore can apply to the areas outside of buildings depending on where they are posted. It can be different if you are a tenant of the complex depending on your lease.
