Private Security Officer Program
« on: May 31, 2017, 12:48:23 PM »
I am currently licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer and Personal Protection Officer as I work security for my church.  Assuming that SB2065 is not vetoed and becomes law, my question is this: Should we decide to no longer carry security licenses, if I were to be involved in a use of force incident while working security at the church, would I still be covered under the Private Security Officer Program or would I be covered under the TLS LTC program?

Ghentry,

If you no longer carry a security license, you would not be eligible for coverage under our Private Security Officer Program.  The Civilian program, however, would provide many of the same coverages for you while working at the church.  The key is you must be able to lawfully possess any weapon used, and the weapon must be lawful in the place it is possessed.

We hope this answers your question.  Feel free to write or call with any follow-up questions or if we can provide any further information.
