How much ammunition is stockpiling?
« on: August 12, 2018, 07:49:16 AM »
I was wondering how much ammunition I can buy at a time and not get..... "Watched"?
Can I buy 8 boxes of 9mm ammunition and not have a problem? 10? 15?

How much ammunition can I have at home before it's considered stockpiling?

Thank you

Completely 'subjective' question and as such also completely UNanswerable..................

some folks would say "2 boxes" - others would say 2 CASES or a whole pallet

You need to decide what's right for You....................

Yes, Thank You.

Figured it was a bit ambiguous but I wasn't sure. I know there is a dollar threshold when withdrawing money from a bank. Wasn't sure how much ammunition might trigger a 'response'.

Headed to East Texas with some friends and I wanted to get 8 boxes before we head out. Thats what brought up the question.
Thank you

Agreed, it is absolutely subjective.
One difference could be in state laws (read them carefully). Another factor is the "feelings" of a jury of 12 of my so-called-peers.
In California, owning one HP bullet is against the law. In Texas, having a few thousand bullets, casings and a bucket of powder makes me a hobbyist.
If you are truly concerned about breaking local laws, I'd definitely recommend to check with a lawyer.
Hope this helps.
