ATF raid on Ares Armor
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:46:10 PM »
I bought a metallic 80% lower from these guys.  Right now it's nothing more than a $100 paper weight, as I have no mill to do the finishing work on it yet. Never-the-less, since the ATF now has all of Ares Armor's client list, I wonder if my door will suddenly get kicked in at 4AM and if I will end up in a gun fight with armed intruders? I have broken no laws.  My "80% lower" is ATF approved, according to the ATF.  It follows that there is nothing that would justify a court issued warrant to search my home.  Do I open fire or quietly let them destroy my life, terrorize and or harm my wife and children and confiscate my entire gun collection?

"opening fire" doesn't seem to me like the wise thing to do if it were to come down as you suggest.

I agree getting into a shootout with the 'authorities' is almost never a good idea, but I think his question was more along the lines of

'IF my door gets kicked in some night do I automatically assume it's the gest... err ATF, or perhaps by happenstance a home invasion?'

The ATF isn't interested in you as a normal buyer. They are interested in all the straw buyers who were purchasing them with the specific intention of resale.
