over 6 months, ...Really?
« on: April 07, 2014, 08:37:27 AM »
Please tell me, what is anyone else experiencing? It has been over 6 months since they have received everything. Is this normal?
I've sent two emails and both times received the standard form letter reply....
I know it says...For more information go to the Status Check link, but that takes you nowhere and you can't talk to anyone!!

I'm beginning to feel like I'm in Chicago,
Come on Texas, I thought we were better than this!

I took my class in January, and received my CHL a few weeks ago.  It took about 45 days total.  I submitted all my documents via their online method.  If you go to the CHL site:  http://https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/login.do, you can acccess the returning user area.  From there you can submit a request for a status update or call them.  I would suggest you call them, because 6 months seems excessive.

O.K., I have emailed them once again. You would think this would draw some kind of a response......I'll let y'all know.

PLEASE help me, something is not right. My CHL appl has been ongoing for over 6 months, while others have rec'd their lic in as little as 45 days.
I have called multiple times but recordings state "agents unavailable", I have emailed multiple times but only rec'd standard form letters.
PLEASE look into my application process. Thanks, Jim

Wow... sorry about that, didn't realized you'd already attempted calling them.  I know my father in law called about his before receiving it, but he actually got a physical person on the line to check on it.  All I can suggest is to keep trying via phone calls.... unless TLS has a better suggestion for you.

Good luck!

Glock23,

You are the victim of the State's bureaucracy. Unfortunately, there is really nothing you can do to speed up the process. They will get to you when they can.

If you go to the DPS website, log in as a continuing customer (not a new applicant), you will be able to see your status.  I suspect they did not get something.  For instance, when I renewed, I sent in my DD214 by scanning/transmitting electronically - and they lost it.  I resent it and had my license in a week or so. :)

If there is something in your background, you may have to call - and wait, and wait, and wait on them to answer.  Had a student get into a bar fight but when DPS ran his background, DPS thought it was domestic violence.  He called, explained it was just a bar fight and they released his CHL. :)

UPDATE:
After many calls, I was finally able to get in (on hold). After quite some time I actually got a live person (thought I was dreamin')
Anyway, they acknowledged...this wasn't right and moved me to the "passing lane".
Less than 3 hrs after that conversation, the Contact Manager emailed me with this....

Hi Mr. Vincent,
I would like to escalate your CHL application for attention. I will get them in the hands of the processing team to get your application finished.
It should only take up to 8 weeks to finish processing and your application is well past this timeframe.

Yeaaa! I let you know when I actually have it.
Jim

YEA!!!  That's great to hear.  Glad you got a live person on the phone.   Sounds like you'll be licensed soon!

To Glock23:

I had essentially the same thing happen.  I submitted all my information on Feb. 1 of this year, and even spoke to a live representative on Feb. 6th, who told me everything was in order and I could expect a 60-90 days waiting period.  I waited 60 days, and then began to get worried.  Like you, at first I could not get past the "no representatives are available" phone message.  I sent 4 emails, all of which went unanswered.  Finally, I got on the phone at 8:00 am this past Tuesday, April 15th, and after a short wait, I got a live person.  After fruitless conversation with the representative, she contacted a supervisor, who told her that she could not open my email attachment that contained the CHL-100 form for class completion.  (Why they waited so long to discover this, I have no idea.....there was never any contact on their part).  I was given the supervisor's personal email address to upload the form, and it was received and opened by the supervisor.  Yesterday, my status changed to show that all was received, and manufacturing (of the license) was pending.  Today my status showed the license to be in the mail.  So they can be productive if they want to be.  Your license should be forthcoming, if you haven't gotten it already.
