Legal to Carry in your own Commercial Vehicle
« on: April 23, 2014, 06:17:21 PM »
We own our own 18-wheeler,and the company. We have our CHL in Texas.  We have been told that yes, we can legally carry in our own truck by some, and by others, since we are "for hire" to carry loads, that we cannot.  I can't find any laws pertaining to this.  Can you clear this up for me please?  We do not travel outside of Texas.

Thanks

You can legally carry.  Although a lot of people think (and teach) you can't.  Make them show it in writing. :)

Thanks for the question redheadsiggirl.

Under Texas law, there is no distinction between commercial vehicles and any other type of motor vehicle. Therefore you have the same rights to carry in your commercial vehicle as you have in your non-commercial vehicle.
